A local foundation, run by neighbors, for neighbors.
Formed in 2002 and governed by a volunteer board of Lincoln County residents.
The Ruidoso Hospice Foundation is a non-profit corporation organized exclusively to provide assistance to the families of Lincoln County for end-of-life care. Over the years the Foundation has paid for medications, home-health and hospice care, medical supplies and equipment, and the many other costs that come with caring for a loved one at the end of life.
We have also covered expenses that no insurance would: installing a telephone, heating a home through the winter, and travel so family members could be with someone in their final weeks.
Our funds come from local donors and from our annual Butterfly Release. There is no paid staff; the board reviews every application personally.
Who is eligible
Assistance is available to Lincoln County residents who have lived in the county for at least ninety (90) days, are medically indigent, and are caring for a person diagnosed with an incurable illness with a life expectancy of twelve months or less.
Medically indigent means the person, or their spouse or dependent, is unable to pay for covered services after attempting to pay and exhausting all other financial resources, and meets the income criteria for their household size.
Applicants do not need to be receiving home-health or hospice services to qualify.
